Again, thanks to The Blitz Kids, and also the fact that it was updated yesterday, I heard about Worried About the Boy. It is a BBC biopic on Boy George and it was aired on the 16th. I had seen an interview where Boy George mentions it but I didn't understand.
Of course now I have seen it already, because I'm like that, and I assure you it's definitely filled with great music and amazing fashion. It is about the young George O'Dowd, and how he turned out to be the Boy George we all know, and everyone who was there with him. Of course I am more than thrilled to watch a film where Steve Strange and Marilyn are also characters! Not to mention they were pretty good, especially Marilyn. The guy who plays Boy George who looks nothing like him, is supposedly a promising new star called Douglas Booth. I'm not sure if that is because he is quite the pretty sight, however he managed to catch the essence of the Boy itself quite well and in that sense he is perfect. Also special props to the man who plays Malcom McLaren, who did a brilliant job! Just as annoying as the real one, and fun while playing so.
Marilyn ♥
Well, I recently I watched another couple of BBC biopics, Byron about Lord Byron of course, and This Charming Man about Beau Brummel. I thought Byron was pretty decent, but it needed more amazing. And while I really enjoyed watching This Charming Man, the story was silly and deeply inaccurate, needless to say given the film's morals translate as "Don't sleep with Lord Byron!". It also featured a "gang fight" between Dandies and Fops, now that was hilarious!
Because of that I was expecting Worried About the Boy to be a disappointment, because it tends to feel that way when it's a subject closest to your heart. But maybe because of that, I just loved it. Don't know to what point it is accurate, there wasn't anything I knew to be wrong, I may be a little geeky but I wasn't there nor have I ever found a cheap copy of Take it Like a Man. Boy George seemed pleased though!
But you know, I will watch anything that will even slightly brush the subject of New Romantic. I want more! I've been spoiled by YouTube and all those damn documentaries and interviews.
Photos from numerous fashion blogs, as well as the world's greatest website The Blitz Kids - which was finally updated yesterday, right after I stole some pictures. Yey!

Sounds absurd but both my computers died a few weeks ago. Finally they are back, thanks to the computer fairy, Mr. Ricardo Silvestre! Or the pope being in town. I wonder! Only one of them with proper internet though, the other one's wireless adapter is being temperamental. Here's stuff that happened while I was away - sort of.
Yours truly.

A million pots of mineral eyeshadow. Just cause.
& yours truly once again.
And yes, the lack of internet brings back the obsession with lame, but joyful computer games. Here's Oscar Lumiére Von Byron doing some moves to the sound of Forbidden Colours:

Does this happen to you too? Do you know when you decide to put something away very neatly in a perfect place, and you can't ever find it again? Well, when I packed to NY, I wanted to take my backpack (correction: Lili's backpack), so I had to take most of my sketchbooks, including school work, out of the bag. So I stored them very neatly in, what I thought then, was the perfect place. I clearly remember thinking this. What I don't clearly remember is where the hell was that perfect place. I've looked all over the place, and I can't find them! It's really a bugger not so much because I have drawings there that I want to scan, but in there are all my sketches for the comic I'm working on for school now. I'm sure it will turn up, but when? I seriously have absolutely no idea where they might be.
I'm definitely not meant to be neat, whenever I decide to store anything, this happens. Either I keep a written record of where I put things, immediately after I do, or I just give up on trying to be organized and I will be the horribly messy person that I am today until the end of my life.
Well, I have one sketchbook, the one I took with me to NY, and there are two drawings in there I haven't posted. Most of what I have been doing lately is automatic drawing like this. It entertains me a lot, I generally like how it looks, and I don't have to worry about being uninspired!
